INVISALIGN IS VIRTUALLY INVISIBLE

The Invisalign aligners are made of a clear plastic material that blends seamlessly into your smile to appear virtually invisible. Due to the discreet nature of this treatment, Invisalign can be suitable for a range of different patients. This treatment can be particularly suitable for those who are self-conscious about receiving treatment or those who work in a professional environment where they feel embarrassed to wear traditional braces.

INVISALIGN IS REMOVABLE

The clear aligners are removable which can be hugely beneficial for a number of reasons. Firstly, patients are able to maintain an excellent oral hygiene routine as they can remove the aligner trays to brush their teeth as they did before. Secondly, it allows patients to enjoy a wide variety of foods. You can simply remove the aligner trays to enjoy crunchy foods or dark staining liquids (such as coffee) then promptly place the aligners back over your teeth. We do suggest that you brush your teeth after you consume foods or dark liquids before replacing the aligners. Thirdly, as the aligners are removable you can take them out to enjoy formal events, take pictures or to feel confident when public speaking.

INVISALIGN DOES NOT USE UNCOMFORTABLE METALS

The technology behind Invisalign has been highly developed to help ensure that the aligners are comfortable and glide over your teeth into position with ease. Our dental professionals will create an accurate digital mould of your teeth, which the Invisalign aligners will then be created from. As the aligners are specifically designed to fit your teeth, they should not disturb the soft tissues in your mouth. Throughout your treatment the aligners will apply a gentle pressure to your teeth that should not cause discomfort.

THE TREATMENT PROCESS

The process of straightening your smile with Invisalign is relatively simple and should be easy to schedule into your day-to-day life. The first step is to attend a comprehensive consultation with our orthodontic professionals. During this initial consultation we will assess the placement of your teeth and jaws to ensure that the Invisalign treatment is the most suitable option for your teeth and your lifestyle.

Once we have taken a digital mould of your teeth, a series of aligners will be created for you to wear for around 22 hours each day, allowing time for you to eat and brush your teeth in-between. By receiving a series of aligners in advance we can help reduce the amount of appointments you need at our practice. You will progress through the aligners approximately every two weeks as your teeth move towards the desired position.

Over a period of 9 – 24 months, depending on the positioning of your teeth, your teeth will be gently moved into place by the aligners.
